Dimethyl Sulfide Detection Tubes 1/a (1 - 15 ppm)
For short-term measurements more than 160 Draeger-Tubes are available to measure the spot concentrations of specific gases. Measurement usually takes between 4 seconds and 15 minutes. The tubes are used either manually with the Draeger-Tube Accuro Pump or automatically with the Draeger X-act 5000.
A wide range of different gases and vapours can be detected and measured, such as:
- Determining and measuring concentration peaks
- Measuring personal exposure in the inhalation area
- Detecting leaks in pipelines, gas installations etc.
- Air analysis in sewers, shafts and confined spaces

Standard Measuring Range: |
1 to 15 ppm |
Number of Strokes (n): |
20 |
Time for Measurement: |
approx. 15 min |
Standard Deviation: |
±15 to 30% |
Color Change: |
violet ?> yellow brown |
Temperature: |
15 to 30° C |
Absolute Humidity: |
< 20 mg H2O / L |
Reaction Principle: |
(CH3) 2S + KMnO4 ??> MNIV + various oxidation products |
Cross Sensitivity: |
Many organic compounds with C=C double bonds are indicated as well, but with different sensitivities. It is impossible to differentiate between them. H2S (hydrogen sulfide) is indicated with approximately twice the sensitivity. The tube H2S 5/b can be used as a filtering tube. Then, with n = 20 pump strokes approx. 30 ppm H2S is retained. Methyl mercaptan is indicated with approximately twice the sensitivity. |
