Mercaptan Detection Tubes 0.1/a (0/1 - 15 ppm)
For short-term measurements more than 160 Draeger-Tubes are available to measure the spot concentrations of specific gases. Measurement usually takes between 4 seconds and 15 minutes. The tubes are used either manually with the Draeger-Tube Accuro Pump or automatically with the Draeger X-act 5000.
A wide range of different gases and vapors can be detected and measured, such as:
- Determining and measuring concentration peaks
- Measuring personal exposure in the inhalation area
- Detecting leaks in pipelines, gas installations etc.
- Air analysis in sewers, shafts and confined spaces

Time for Measurement: |
approx. 3 min / approx. 40 sec |
Standard Deviation: |
± 10 to 15 % |
Color Change: |
yellow ??> pink |
Temperature: |
5 to 40°C |
Absolute Humidity: |
2 to 40 mg H2O / L |
Reaction Principle: |
2 R-SH + Hg Cl2 ??> Hg(CH3S)2 + 2 HCl HCl + pH-indicator ??> reddish reaction product |
Cross Sensitivity: |
Propyl mercaptan and n-butyl-mercaptan are indicated, but with different sensitivities. 4 ppm ethylene, 30 ppm CO, 10 ppm tetrahydrothiophene and 100 ppm hydrogen sulfide do not affect the indication. Hydrogen sulfide changes the pre-layer to black. |
