Hydrocyanic Acid Detection Tubes 0,5a (0.5 - 50 ppm)
For short-term measurements more than 160 Draeger-Tubes are available to measure the spot concentrations of specific gases. Measurement usually takes between 4 seconds and 15 minutes. The tubes are used either manually with the Draeger-Tube Accuro Pump or automatically with the Draeger X-act 5000.
A wide range of different gases and vapors can be detected and measured, such as:
- Determining and measuring concentration peaks
- Measuring personal exposure in the inhalation area
- Detecting leaks in pipelines, gas installations etc.
- Air analysis in sewers, shafts and confined spaces

Temperature: |
0 to 40 C |
Absolute Humidity: |
< 40 mg H2O / L |
Reaction Principle: |
a) HCN + HgCl2 --> HCl b) HCl + methyl red --> red reaction product |
Cross Sensitivity: |
30 ppm hydrogen sulfide, 300 ppm ammonia, 40 ppm sulfur dioxide, 20 ppm nitrogen dioxide and 1,000 ppm hydrogen chloride do not affect the indication.
Hydrogen sulfide causes the pre-layer to discolor to dark brown.
Ammonia concentrations above 300 ppm can cause the indication at the beginning of the indicating layer to discolor back to yellow.
Acylonitrile up to a concentration of 1,000 ppm does not affect the indication.
It is impossible to measure hydrocyanic acid in the presence of phosphine. |
