SafeAir Hydrazine Detection Badges
Hydrazine is a colorless liquid with a penetrating odor comparable to that of ammonia. It is used predominantly as a fuel for rocket and jet engines and in the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals. Hydrazine vapor is extremely destructive to the tissues of the mucous membranes and the upper respiratory tract. Symptoms of exposure may include coughing, wheezing, laryngitis, shortness of breath, headache, nausea and vomiting. NIOSH recommends that hydrazine be handled with extreme caution and should be considered as a potential occupational carcinogen in the workplace.
SafeAir Hydrazine badges provide an immediate visual indication of exposure to hydrazine. When hydrazine vapor is present, the exclamation mark in the triangular window changes color. The intensity of the color change is proportional to the exposure dose. To measure hydrazine exposure dose, an optional color comparator is available for use with the badge. SafeAir Hydrazine badges are a simple, cost-effective solution for hydrazine detection in the workplace.
TDI Color Comparators are available to provide higher resolution and a broader range. The comparator is used to determine hydrazine exposure dose by matching the color on the badge to a color on the comparator color wheel. It measures hydrazine exposure dose from 4.5 to 300 ppb-hour.
Features:
- Highly sensitive and selective to target chemical
- Easy to use
- Ideal for daily employee screening or leak detection
- Measures TWA exposure
- No calibration or laboratory analysis needed
